GTS Telecom is part of GTS Central Europe, a multi-layered infrastructure-based provider of integrated telecommunications solutions for those countries of Central and Eastern Europe lying between Frankfurt and Istanbul. Using its own regional fiber network, GTS CE provides fixed voice, data, IP, MPLS and broadband services primarily targeting business customers, as well as services for other telecom carriers, mobile operators and content providers. GTS CE’s primary countries of operation are the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania, with network extensions and local partnerships involving the neighboring countries of Ukraine, the Baltic States, Bulgaria, Russia, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Moldova and Turkey. In 2005, 2007 and 2009 GTS CE has been awarded as ‘Best Central and Eastern European Wholesale Provider’.

Positioned as Business Accelerator (TM) and ISO 9001 certified, the company deploys the most stabile communications solutions in Romania, managed up to the connection interface of the clients (end-to-end). In 2009 the average stability level for all the communications solutions implemented by the company was 99.92%. GTS Telecom delivers to the business market a full range of carrier and corporate networking solutions based on TCP/IP, X.25 and Frame Relay, Internet services, telephony solutions and hosting.

The group

Owned by a consortium of private equity funds led by Columbia Capital, M/C Ventures and Innova Capital, GTS Central Europe is the leading alternative provider of integrated telecommunications services to businesses, corporate and international carriers in the Central European region.
The companies of the group deploy telephony services, data communications, Internet connections, IP VPN solutions, MPLS and managed bandwidth services. The group, with more than 1300 employees, generated in 2008 revenues of more than Euro 436 mil and EBITDA of Euro 77mil.


Origins

GTS Telecom is the merge result of the companies KPNQwest Romania and GTS Romania. The company is active on the local market since 1993, at that time under the EUnet brand-name, one of the first commercial ISP in Romania. After KPNQwest NV is formed as joint venture in 1999, EUnet is integrated in the new structure. In Octomber 2001, KPNQwest NV acquires from the GTS-Ebone network together with the operations in the Central Europe. In 2002 the stand alone Strategic Business Unit KPNQwest-Ebone Central Europe becomes GTS Central Europe and is aquired by Antel Holdings Ltd. The group with operations in Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia is the leading provider of data communication, hosting and voice services. In December 2007 the shareholders entered into an agreement to sell 100% shares in GTS CE to a consortium of private equity funds led by Columbia Capital, M/C Ventures Partners and Innova Capital, process ended May 2008.
