1. SERVICE DESCRIPTION
The GTS VirtualHosting service deliver a virtual server, where the customers may install own operating systems and applications. This service is configured on a real large capacity server hosted in the GTS Telecom DataCenter.
In the standard version, GTS VirtualServer is offered to the customer without having any operating system installed. It is the customer’s responsibility to install the operating system and the desired applications on the virtual server as well as to make sure that it has the right and necessary licenses to use all installed programs. The customer may make available to the GTS NOC a CD library, and, later on, may request insertions of these CDs into the server CD-ROM drive for use. In case of open operating systems, it is possible that they are already in GTS’s’ possession, in which case the customer no longer needs to make available to GTS the said disks. Optionally, the customer may request from GTS consulting services during installation or use of the virtual server.
The virtual server is Intel x86 compliant and has the following hardware architecture:
- SCSI controller;
- Intel Xeon 2.4 Ghz processor (real power available to the customer is specified in the order);
- 440BX/NS338 SIO chipset motherboard;
- virtual PhoenixBIOS 4.0 release 6;
- 3.6 GB maximum virtual memory;
- 1 to 4 network interfaces;
- floppy and CD-ROM/DVD drives;
- supported operating systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Standard, Enterprise and Web), Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Microsoft Windows 2000: Server, Advanced Server, Terminal Services Edition, Microsoft Windows NT: 4.0 Server, Service Pack 6a, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (AS) 2.1 and 3.0; Red Hat 7.2, 7.3, 8.0, and 9.0, SuSE Linux 8.2 and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.0, Novell NetWare 6.5 and 5.1 (Patch 6). This platform may also support other operating systems; the customer is entitled to test and install other operating systems or releases, but will benefit from technical assistance in case of hosting platform incompliance problems only for the aforementioned operating systems.
2. FEATURES OF THE REAL MACHINE
- Minimum CPU Allocated: represents the fraction of the allocated (guaranteed) processing power for this virtual machine. The real servers running this service are equipped with two Xeon 2.4 Ghz processors each.
- Maximum CPU Allocated: represents the maximum value of the processing power the machine may use when it is not occupied by other virtual systems hosted on the same machine. This value is not guaranteed.
- RAM: dimension of the memory allocated to this virtual system. This value is guaranteed 1:1 by the real dimension of the real server memory.
- Disk Size: dimension of the virtual server hard-disk.
- Download: download speed of the virtual server interface.
- Upload: upload speed of the virtual server interface.
